I CAN'T NOT MAKE GAMES.

I have enough lockerspace to hold an episode of Friends.

"We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!

Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify
(or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause CLOWNS MUST STAND."

- TW/IFS, "All The World Is A Stage Dive"
Iron Gaia
As the only human awake on board a space station controlled by an insane AI with delusions of deification, you must unravel the mystery of your own identity and discover: "What is the Iron Gaia?"

So, is Lines End still in production?

Wow, I am amazed by all the ABL hate.

Most here were joking about it being the best. I hope you all were

You have to look at as an early standard. Super Mario Bros was groundbreaking. Is it still groundbreaking? Not really. (yes it is) It has to do with "being the first to do it." It sets a standard, disregarding the actual quality.

ABl has lost much of its shine, but was "one of the first." You follow?

Point me to five games better than it released in the last three years.

So I started playing this game after everyone's very convincing words. Right now, I have just taken control of Talin, waking up with 10 minutes to get to work (The very beginning of the game).

I dunno, so far it seems pretty shoddy and typical of RMK games! When does it stop being mediocre and start being ZOMG EPIC BEST RMK GAME EVAR!!?

If it doesn't have you hooked by now, I am already thinking you might have cancer...of the soul. But keep playing, it does get even better once you get to work.

Really, if you look at a lot of those older games, they might not be quite as pretty, but that's about it. Hell, the writing is still better then 99% of rm* games, and the gameplay isn't that bad either.

I'd say it's aged rather gracefully.

This, only moreso.

What do you think makes an RPG?

Unless they are also very shapely and/or perky which is rare but possible, although not really above D.

The weird things you do

I do that too!

:The Game Making Drive/Blog Topic

My whole point was "I'm not game making" and also " >:(" about it.

But seriously I at least intend to do some major project on Mage Duel tomorrow.

What do you think makes an RPG?

Most manga is terrible too, though.

Need staff.

No I'm usually more active later in the day. Today's a pretty busy day for me (yes, I do have busy days even though I'm unemployed). I'll chat with you on AIM (or, ::groan::, I'll bring myself to get MSN) later in the week, though.

What are you thinking about right now?

A time when "community games" while still geekily self-referential were not based entirely on mean-spirited dickery.

Need staff.

Alright, miracle man. If you can one-man-show a trailer together by November 2nd, but in my experience game development, when done properly, takes time.

Of course, I one-man-showed a full length game together in a month for the 2005 Release Something at GW, but that did not have custom graphics or anything.

What do you think makes an RPG?

Most movies are incredibly bad.

There are no good movies about swords, magic, and dragons. None. If you want a story with certain obscure subject matter, your only choice is video games. (Show me one movie about mages who are dueling! Even one!)

Need staff.

I can do the idea shit, and will, since I owe you one and I assume your ideas are interesting. I cannot help with art shit.

I am confused by your use of the word "Fusilade" in that blurb!

Oh, and some advice from a very, very, very experienced game maker!

DO. NOT. EVER. SET. RELEASE. DATES. EVER.

There is NO NEED TO (you are not in the industry, you don't need to worry about "sending product out on time" or "hitting your target demo" or any of that corporate bullshit) and furthermore RM release dates 1. Are Never Met or 2. When they are met, result in a rushed and shitty product.

Basically, I would like to help you, but I can't even promise that if you insist on setting a release date. Release dates are a typical and horribly common rookie mistake. The only release date any form of any game should ever have is: when it's done. (I.e. I am capable of living my life and making my games and helping you and doing a good job OR living my life and making my games and helping you get something done by November 2nd but almost certainly not both.)

Most vets around here will, I hope, agree with me.
